It might a little but in general the wireless is faster than your internet so you are already competing for bandwidth and pretty much the person who is closest to the router has a advantage. On your other concern it really will not take more bandwidth the wireless. Although you may pay $1 or $2 more from a local merchant they will be less likely to sell fake goods when they know you can easily come to the store and complain.

This is hard to tell even for a very experienced person so it is easy to get ripped off. They sell things like copper clad aluminum cable and even say it is certified tia/eia cat6 but the certification for all ethernet cable clearly says it must be copper cable only. Lately though there is a lot of fake cable being sold. There used to not be any issues buying any cable you could find. I would buy it from a local store that you can return if you have any issues. You can but cat6 if it cheaper but it will not make it run any better. Thanks I just removed the cfosspeed install from the folder. I had the same problem: gigabit internet cut in half. Run it and then delete the lan manager folder. Pretty much any cat5e cable will work fine. Look in the program folder for something like 'LAN manager.' There is an uninstall in that folder. Find a cable that is long enough and you like the color
